| Security Update will solve Adobe Flash Media Server's weakness |
Adobe has released a security bulletin describing a vulnerability in one of its products, the Flash Media Server. According to Adobe, the vulnerability permits possible attackers to conduct remote procedure calls (RPC) in a server side ActionScript file that's running on the server.
This weakness is said to be present in both the Windows and Linux versions of the Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5.1. Previous versions are also at risk.
Adobe classified this problem as "important" based on its very own Severity Rating System. This system was created to guide developers in their examination of the threats to their products. A problem could have Low, Moderate, Important, or Critical rating. Being rated as "Important", Adobe Flash Media Server's vulnerability, could "compromise data security, potentially allowing access to confidential data, or could compromise processing resources in a user's computer."
Adobe strongly advised that its users update immediately to either version 3.5.2 or 3.0.4 to be safe from this problem.
Adobe is the developer of such widely used programs, including Acrobat, After Effects, Cold Fusion, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. |
