| Android OS manipulated to function on Apple iPhones |
Installing an operating system that works only for Google’s Android smartphones is no longer impossible for iPhones handsets. According to the latest news, a lone developer was able to manipulate the operating system in such a way that it can be incorporated into an Apple iPhone.
Creative minds for the benefit of others
A hacker named David Wang, also known as “planetbeing”, is a member of a popular community of iPhone hackers. This man uploaded a video at YouTube, which shows an iPhone that is functioning well even with a different operating system. It was also evident in this video that the iPhone performed well as it was capable of booting and running software that can only operate in an Android phone.
“Planetbeing” was known for his big contributions when it comes to generating devices for unlocking and jail-breaking of iPhone units. He gave his best as a member of the research group “iPhoneDevTeam”.
iPhone shares more than what is on the surface
It was discovered by Wang during the research that the iPhone possesses a dual-boot system. Thus, the Android operating system can be placed in the internal memory of the unit together with the original operating system of the iPhone.
There is a process that one can follow in order to have the Android operating system function on an iPhone. Utilizing the OpeniBoot startup tool is the primary step an iPhone user must perform. And then, upon restarting the unit, the individual may already select among the choices of iPhone operating system and Linux kernel that is compatible with an iPHone. Lastly, utilization of Linux will instantly boot the iPhone and the Android OS is activated.
Further study is necessary for a successful venture
However, Wang must admit that there are drivers and other useful components that are still not tested on this newly-discovered iPhone hack. According to him, this software may be considered an “alpha” product as of the present.
The recently broadcasted application is now ready for download. But then, even though some had been successful in utilizing the OpeniBoot component, there are iPhone handsets that malfunctioned upon booting.
After this announcement about Wang’s astonishing contribution Apple released a report regarding a new iPhone operating system. The new OS for iPhone has the capacity of allowing multi-tasking on the iPhone. And, the iPhone OS 4.0 will be distributed this coming season of summer.
