| Backdoor malwares are now aiming at the iPad owners |
A certain malicious threat has been spreading through various webmail accounts and is affecting the iPad owners. And, a caution has been given to the Apple enthusiasts that they must always be alert against the attackers’ new tactic of gaining illegal access into their systems.
E-mail as a vehicle of security threats
As stated on the blog post created by Sabina Datcu, the technology writer of the famous security firm BitDefender, users of the latest Apple product had been recently receiving unwanted e-mails that contain damaging entity. This message encourages the individuals to download the most up-to-date edition of the Apple program iTunes. In addition, this phony application was considered to be as the first step to upgrading the software of the Apple iPad.
According to Datcu, there is a link present in the mail that directs the user to the exact location of the fake file. This crime appears to be very perfect as evidenced by the page to which a user is redirected to upon accessing the link. The page is an exact replica of the original domain where the Apple users download and acquire the authentic iTunes software.
Lack of watchfulness might lead to a dangerous situation
Once the person accesses the given wicked link, he or she instantly falls as a victim to this vicious trap that is created by the online hackers. Clicking the link welcomes the malicious software; thus, their confidential records are left open for the hackers to feast on. Also, as a substitute to the essential update to the iTunes software, the iPad users receive the threatening files into their computer systems.
Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY is the malicious software that is designed in a way that it can create a backdoor for the online hackers. As said by Datcu, these web attackers gain illegal entry into the computer systems of the victims through the backdoor.
Aside from giving a free entrance to the hackers, this malware also attempts to read the vital keys and also the serial numbers of the different applications incorporated into the system. The log-in credentials of the e-mail, IM, and all the other protected storage accounts are also stolen. However, Datcu assures the Mac users that they are far from being attacked by this specific malware.
