Latest code-execution lurking around IE

Early this week, Microsoft reports that many internet-based criminals are currently leading security bugs, which greatly affect Internet Explorer version 6 and 7. This enables an attacker to execute certain commands which can damage the target computer and its vital processes.

Significance of having an updated IE

Early versions of this popular graphical web browser have a weak security, which makes it easy for the online villains to penetrate the systems the way a user does when logging in onto the computer. Hence, internet enthusiasts using IE are more obliged to update their Microsoft browsers to version 8. This up-to-date IE neither possesses an invalid pointer reference nor can it be applied.

But then, this case is different from that of the Internet news broadcasted a week ago wherein the online delinquents attack the systems by having the users press the F1 button, a key which is known to show the help menu of the browser or any other applications.

According to a statement made by a representative from the Microsoft team, the corporation is knowledgeable of the fact that the security weakness of the outdated versions of this web browser is the main reason why the online criminals are able to set out an attack against many computers. It was also stated in the Microsoft’s memo that the attackers use various ways of penetrating the users’ computer system.

Attackers effortlessly enter systems

The vicious online assailants are able to access systems by hosting their own website, in which, one of its web pages can break through a computer’s weak security. Advertisements in websites are also utilized since these may have malicious commands that can penetrate computers. However, Microsoft was not able to elaborate much on these alarming targeted system attacks.

Microsoft sets out a high severity rate

Two “Important”-rated security bulletins, which are always included whenever updates are done each month, were released by Microsoft Corporation. This rating, “Important”, is actually the second to the highest in the five-tier severity rating scale of Microsoft Corporation. It was labeled as such because of the great possibility that more dangerous and detrimental commands can be produced in the future.

Microsoft’s updates as a solution

The first Microsoft bulletin includes the remedy for the flaws of the application in the Windows XP and Windows Vista, the Microsoft Movie maker. The next one is an update, which fixes the problems in the Microsoft Office. The company’s report on the Internet Explorer 6 and 7 vulnerabilities is also included in this monthly update.
