| Device that checks bugs in plug-ins from Mozilla |
A new tool was created by Mozilla and this possesses the function of assisting in detecting any bugs or security holes in the plug-ins of different web browsers. The browsers that can be accommodated by this newly-invented service include the Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer, and the Google Chrome.
New and improved device widens the coverage
This tool was based on the one that was released just a year ago, which detects only the out-of-date plug-ins incorporated in the Firefox browser. During the time it was first distributed for user, Internet Explorer received just a partial extension from the service. But Mozilla already had a plan that it will provide full coverage in the future.
Out-of-date plug-ins must be taken into account
According to a statement written by Johnathan Nightingale, the Director of Firefox Development at Mozilla, the security of the plug-in is a serious concern of the online community. To act on this specific matter, the company initiated creating a webpage that will help detect vulnerabilities in the plug-ins of Firefox browsers. And, as part of their plan, they also widened their scope that even the plug-ins for Safari 4, Chrome 4, and Opera 10.5 may now be checked by the device.
The purpose of this device is to warn users that what they are using are outdated editions of the Adobe Flash, Java Virtual Machine, and other kinds of software that are all incorporated in the web browsers. And, the Mozilla product was found to be very useful after operating for several weeks. It was able to detect the vulnerable plug-ins in the Firefox browser such as the web animation software of Adobe.
Protection will be ensured sooner or later
According to Nightingale, there was an apparent progress after the launch since there are already 60 percent of users who are now using the most up-to-date version of the Flash. Reports show that the using Flash that is not updated increase the risk for attacks using malicious software. Hence, it is considered challenging that there are still a lot of people who are susceptible to this kind of online threat.
