| Update for Firefox 3.6 is now ready |
Vulnerability in Mozilla’s browser under Windows, Firefox 3.6, was found during the month of February this year. As of the latest internet news broadcast, a patch was developed by Mozilla and it is now ready to be used in order to remedy the said security flaw of the browser.
Beta version is accessible as a countermeasure
Written on a blog created by Mozilla, the said update for the security hole will be incorporated in the latest version of the browser, which is version 3.6.2. And, this will be distributed online on March 30, 2010. And in case the users are unable to wait for the release of the latest version, they may also try installing the beta version into their system instead.
Systems are placed on a risky position
The vulnerability in the Firefox browser puts the users and their computers into an unsafe spot. The attacker may utilize the security hole in this browser in order to gain entry into a system and the crook will have the control over the user’s computer.
Opinions of security services match
Based on an advisory made by Secunia, a popular computer security service provider, the severity rate of this problem is highly critical. On the other hand, the expert technical team in Germany, BürgerCERT, suggests that the people make use of a different browser for the mean time. This is due to the danger of having the computers manipulated by online villains.
Providers must find out the flaws by themselves
Intevydis, a Russia-based security firm, is responsible for the discovery of the security vulnerabilities in various browsers using a Windows exploit. However, this organization does not easily give their information to the concerned companies. They sell the data that they find out, especially on the flaws in the security of the products, to the web giants.
This is also the reason for the delay in the fix patch for the vulnerability of the Firefox browser. Evgeny Legerov found the flaw on the Mozilla browser and talked about it without offering any details. Soon after his discovery, however, he also discussed this with Mozilla.
