Microsoft Corporation announced early this week that the newest web browser, Internet Explorer 9, will no longer be compatible with the Windows XP operating system, which is still utilized by many.
Internet Explorer 9 for higher operating systems
Based on the circulating internet-related news, Windows XP appears to be quite powerless as an operating system due to its restrictions on performance and security. These restraints make it impossible for the latest web browser to be installed in this edition of Microsoft’s operating system.
Internet Explorer 9 plus brand-new tricks
On Tuesday, Microsoft released their initial preview for Internet Explorer 9. It was witnessed in the sample version that the browser will be able to support HTML5 and it also includes a more advanced JavaScript engine. And, together with the broadcast of the new web browser’s appealing features was the announcement that Windows XP will not be capable of handling IE9.
Longer stay for the old-fashioned operating system
Microsoft has a lifecycle policy regarding their products wherein one will be updated for the next five years after it is first released. And, it will have two more years after the release of the corporation’s latest product.
And, with this said, updates for Windows XP supposedly ends in the year 2011. However, Microsoft settled on prolonging the operating system’s critical support for another three years. The company sees that there is an evident abundance in the number of XP users as of the latest. Also, it appears that XPs successor is still not accepted by many users.
Windows 7 for a smoother computer experience
It is true that Microsoft still has updates for their older version of operating system, which is the Windows XP. But then, the company recommends the use of their most up-to-date OS (Windows 7).
Windows 7 has essential security features that the older version does not possess. These security functions in the pristine OS lessen the threat of encountering a malware infection. It also protects the computer from the damaging effects of these infections.
The previously stated advantages were emphasized during the latest standard update of Microsoft. It was seen that compared to Windows XP, occurrence of vulnerabilities in Vista and Windows 7 is far lesser than what is witnessed today in the XP operating system.
