| Online shop spamming about Viagra at Twitter |
A certain Canadian Pharmacy created an online shop at Twitter and this has been sending out spam messages all throughout the social networking site. It was constantly online for a couple of weeks even if there was already a report from the popular security firm about this. Usually, action will be immediately taken once a report on an obvious malicious activity has been made.
Links to various illegitimate websites that are specific to trading Viagra and other medications that require prescriptions are being shared by @canadianshop, the account that was registered at the micro-blogging service. This is, in fact, one of the common grounds that will result to an account’s permanent ban from the site. However, even if the IT security vendor Sophos persistently sent out the relevant information to Twitter during the past weeks, no action has ever been carried out.
Nonstop spamming for the whole month is possible
The Twitter account, @canadianshop was online for many consecutive days during the previous month. It is not true that it took a long time for the website to respond to the persisting problem since Twitter was able to produce the bit.ly, the URL shortening service that was capable of preventing the spamming account from posting more custom links. According to the spokesperson from Sophos, this method is not really as helpful as it may seem since it does not totally stop the account from posting new links after closing down what was previously posted.
Considered strange for just a common spam
The Sophos spokesman added that @canadianshop is oddly very clear about its activity unlike the other Twitter accounts that banish the spamvertised links. As what has been observed, this account has Canadian pharmacy wallpaper and it also post updates regarding what are being sold.
He also explained that the said Twitter account is not the type most people believe it is because this is not the type in which it will direct the users to the page of a usual online drugs store. In addition, @canadianshop is also not a hacked account and it is used for sending spam with pharma links attached to it. In conclusion, this account is just an obvious form of endorsement of various pharmacy websites that are usually broadcasted using the spam mails.
