Hacking of the Yahoo! webmail owned by Sarah Palin, a candidate during the 2008 elections, was an intriguing issue in the online community. And as of the latest, the former Republican vice-presidential is now ready to give her testimony in opposition to the college student who was responsible for hacking her Yahoo mail account and spreading the confidential information found therein.
According to Thomas V Van flein, Palin’s lawyer, the previous governor of Alaska will appear in the courtroom of Knoxville in April 20 to state her testimony with regards to the hacking incident. Furthermore, the former vice-presidential aspirant will attend as per the invitation of the federal prosecutor’s who are representing the trial.
Disgrace was nothing but apparent
This episode during her race for the United States vice-president position became the point at which her reputation was tainted and almost destroyed. She also received quite an amount of spiteful words during her campaign period. And, this event became a great benefit for US Senator John McCain on his campaign.
Apart from occurrence of this scandal, Palin also suffered an enormous humiliation in her interviews in local prime-time news wherein she appeared to have not enough knowledge on the issues within and outside her country.
Palin complains about how it was of a big disadvantage for her when the personal and official phone lines were cut off. Difficulty took place when this form of communication with her staff was taken away. There were also rumors that she did not oblige with the recommendation made by the state law, which is using of email accounts held by the government.
Breaking into someone’s privacy can be dangerous
David Kernell, the son of a known Democratic representative in the state of Tennessee, was actually linked in this hacking issue. The college student is the accused individual in the illegal access of Palin’s private account. In order to get into the webmail account, publicly available biographical information was used. Hence, all of the confidential contents of the account were divulged.
It was the person’s concluding act, which led him to his downfall. In this case, it was discovered that the student used a web anonymizing proxy service and it led the investigators in identifying their primary suspect.
The accused in the midst of examination
Kernell is now facing three cases against him but this suspected individual declared that he was not guilty of any of the charges against him. On his defense, the lawyers announced that there were ambiguities in the privacy of the vice-presidential candidate’s account and that their client’s computer was infected with a type of malware.
