The popular oil company BP was involved in such a controversial incident on Thursday this week when their registered Twitter account underwent an attack from unknown individuals.
Advertising of message from unauthorized user became possible
The unknown hackers stole the Twitter account of the company with a registered name of @BP_America. And, this allowed the attackers to post a new Tweet and this included the statement saying that a certain Terry is already in command in the Top Kill operation and that it will resume after the XLL wetsuit has been found.
Immediate response was performed
The said update was deleted right away about 30 minutes after the specific Tweet was updated on the page. An in-joke regarding on a bogus Twitter account named @BPGlobalPR was included in the newest update after the account was taken over by the Twitter hackers. And, the name of a character called Terry always comes into the picture whenever there is a latest sardonically-themed Tweet posted on the page.

According to the well-known security firm Sophos, the hacking incident involving the official Twitter account of the big oil company became successful due to the micro-blogging site’s weak system of protecting the passwords of its users.
