Undergraduates as new targets of UK-based fraudsters

According to a post created by SunBelt on its blog, students in the United Kingdom are being aimed at by the criminals as of the latest. Aside from students, the vicious swindlers also make victims out of the individuals who also borrowed money from Student Loan Company.
Tricky method from dire thoughts
Criminals involved in phishing attacks were found to be very wise when it came to luring their targets. It was discovered that these scoundrels view the DirectGov domain and make a perfect copy of its appearance and also its environment. Thus, the criminals are able to make a bogus website that materializes as something very much similar to the original site. Apart from the website, even the web pages of the Student Loan Company are also faked.
Fake pages may be utilized for stealing
To make the phising attack appear to be genuine, the forms that are needed to be filled out by the concerned individuals were also reproduced. This document that will be completed by the party involved may serve as a source of the online crooks for important information just like the bank details. Confidential data like the NI number and the date of birth of the person can also be stolen using this bogus sheet.
Telling authentic from not appears difficult
The works of the online thugs really do have an intricate mechanism. The next page that will come into view, upon completing the form that needs filling out and clicking the save button, is the Student Finance section log-out page of the DirectGov domain. In this way, the web fraudsters are able to trick the users into believing that what they have just visited is the genuine website.
In addition to Sunbelt’s report, it was also viewed that there is an increase in the quantity of websites that are supporting the phishing pages and this evident boost was observed in the month of April. Thus, this agency advise the students and other concerned individuals who are currently indebted to the Student Loans Company that they must take extra precautions and they should also be careful on the URLs that they are following.
