Trinity Mirror Group is known for operating numerous employment websites online. Unfortunately, quite a number of these websites were reported to have been attacked by unknown online crooks. However, even after the recent attack, the newspaper group stated that there was not a single sign that the CVs were illegally accessed and duplicated.
Hacking grows into a more complex activity
It was on the 19th of May this year when both the JobSearch.co.uk and jobs.mirror.co.uk suffered from an online assault. And, based on the written blog post, it can be stated that the hacking incident is both strong and complicated. Hence, it was able to gain unauthorized access into the specific user accounts of the two websites.
Instant defensive measures were done
For added protection, the newspaper group Trinity Mirror closed down the entire set of user accounts and they also gave out new series of passwords. The blog post spreads out the words of caution regarding the security in passwords. The users should always modify their passwords especially when they utilize their secret code on different websites.
Latent accounts were taken advantage of
As said by the representative from the group Trinity Mirror, the accounts, which were affected during the hacking event, were those that were old and already inactive. In addition, the log-in details were not involved in this latest online assault. It was also assured that the CVs and all other confidential data were kept safe even after the event. As a way of showing civility, the newspaper group notified the ICO regarding what had happened.
Source of the attack is still unidentified
Still, the group does not have any idea or lead as to who and where this attack started from. Moreover, the people who have contribution in the affected websites were entitled to receive a certain e-mail. The message is a notice that the there had been an incident of breach on their accounts.
Trinity Mirror Group is an established network of local newspapers. It also declared having about 3.5 million users for the CV sites such as the totallylegal, PlanetRecruit Secsinthecity, and The Career Engineer. It is also comprised of the CV that is dedicated for the finance and accountancy staff, which is the GAAPweb.
