Blogs of Vietnamese protesters in the midst of danger

Neel Mehta, a representative of Google’s security team, says that the blogs that were found to have been criticizing the government of Vietnam undergoes quite a difficult situation. These blogs are currently suffering from distributed denial of service (DDoS) kind of attacks.
Trojan hides in the Vietnamese keyboard drivers
It was discovered that this situation was preceded by the malwares lurking in some of the affected computers. The malicious software masquerades as a Windows keyboard driver for the Vietnamese characters. It is designed in such a way that it can steal information from a certain computer and convert this data into bot. And, as of the latest, approximately 10, 000 computers are already infected with this trojan.
Considering the statement made by the Chief Technology Officer at McAfee, George Kurtz, it can be concluded that this problem began to affect computers during the year 2009. Vietnamese Professionals Society (VPS) was one of the many affected websites and the keyboard driver that this organization offers, VPSKeys, was changed into a trojan. And, the online users receive an e-mail regarding this downloadable malware-containing driver from a compromised website.
Politics as a cause for online danger
According to Kurtz, there is probably a political stimulus behind these current online attacks. There is also a possibility that the online crooks are linked with the government of Vietnam.
It was evident that the blogs of the protesters against the bauxite mine in the central highlands of Vietnam were the ones who got attacked using this malicious software. The dissenters believed that this plan conceptualized by both Vietnam and China may lead to an enormous and lasting environmental damage. In this situation, one can deduce that online attacks are not preceded only by money because politics may also be included.
Ill intentions fright the online users
According to Mehta, these attacks are nothing but threats to online users. However, this issue is just a little complicated compared to the situation wherein the webmail accounts of Chinese human rights protesters were being monitored.
Google must have withdrawn their China-based server because of the rampant politically-motivated web attacks and also the censorship being posed by the Chinese government.
