| Web giant focuses on security processes |
Just recently, the web giant released a paper that talks about the security strategy being practiced by the company. This is their way of sharing to the public their unwavering dedication in ensuring fully-protected online services.
The title of the paper distributed by Google is “Security Whitepaper: Google Apps Messaging and Collaboration Products”. The contents of this paper include the following: Google’s security policies, operational and organizational security, control procedures and asset categorization, and a lot more that are related to protection.
Security is not being ignored
According to the popular search firm’s director of security of the enterprise group Eran Feigenbaum, the paper was written in such a way that the protection they offer is clearer than how their security was before. This was also designed in order to contradict the common knowledge of the users about the web services of this company. Generally, the rival companies of Google always imply that Google offers lesser protection compared to the conventional on-premise systems.
Protection of data should always be prioritized
As written in Feigenbaum’s blog post, a trustworthy cloud service provider with proper practices and policies are necessary in order to bring out the confidence of individuals when keeping data using a cloud. And, with the present technology advancement, one’s comprehension of how stored data are being secured is more important than the awareness of its actual location in a data center.
China-based attack endangered the giant’s reputation
During the beginning of the year, China’s reputation was jeopardized when a targeted attack from China was directed on the company’s infrastructure. This became possible due to the presence of a glitch in the security of the Internet Explorer 6. Hence, Google experienced theft of their intellectual property.
So as to respond to this kind of situation, it was reported that Google began to stop using Microsoft Corporation’s operating system, Windows. This action was thought to have been provoked by both the marketing problems and the apprehension when it comes to the protection being offered.
Alarm remains in the online community
Inviting consumers to use the cloud at ease is part of Google’s objective and it is not yet fully achieved as of the moment. Yale’s idea of shifting the Google Apps for the Education was halted during the month of March because of the current problem on the company’s security. The City of Los Angeles was also thinking of moving from Novell e-mail system to Gmail and Google App but it was arrested due to the security issues.
