Fitrianta got eight Years

Cahya Fitrianta ( only 26 years old) was proven guilty of hacking the www.speedline.com website that enabled him to  illicitly get funds and  used them to finance terrorists in their training  in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

They found him guilty and sentenced him to be imprisoned for a period of 8  years.

He was also ordered to pay a Rp 500 million ($51,000) fine.

In addition, he was also found guilty of money laundering.

Hacker found in hotel

Cahya Fitrianta was arrested at Bandung Hotel in May

Last year who was with an accomplice named Rizki Gunawan.

Gunawan has the same modus operandi as Cahya Fitrianta and was suspected of hacking a website of a marketing firm. Also, they were suspected of sending money to Umar Patek .

Umar Patek was the man behind the 2002 Bali Bombing and now is serving his sentence of 20 year imprisonment.

However, the prosecution feels that it is not a total victory because they were expecting him to get an imprisonment more than 8 years and a fine of not lower than Rp 2 billion.

Due to this, prosecutor Suroyo said that the prosecution would  make an appeal and would ask the court to impose a higher or graver punishment.

On the side of the defendant, defense attorney Farid Ghozali stated that the defense was also disappointed with the result.

Ghozali claimed that the prosecution failed to prove that the accused (Cahya Fitrianta) committed acts of terrorism.

He further added that the prosecution was not able to give sufficient evidence that would prove beyond any reasonable doubt that his client had military training in Poso or were involved in any form of terrorist act.

It should be noted however, that the decision of the West Jakarta District Court judges were based on Article 15 under Law No. 15 of 2003, Article 3 of Law No. 8 of 2010, and Article 30 of Law No. 11 of 2008.

These laws were related to money laundering, counteracting terrorism, and information and electronic transactions.
