Google promises to protect users from malicious activities

Google announced that they will be stricter about security in order to fight the widespread spam and online attacks on users. The web giant promises that they will inform the online users if there are any fishy operations occurring in their accounts.
Google devises a method in which their users will receive reports on various facts. Included in the statement are the following: the recent time when the user’s account is logged in and also the record of the IP addresses that were utilized in order to access the webmail service.
Increased security with an innovated method
The web giant’s latest service offers the online users a list of the past log-in activities, which is arranged in such a way that these are classified according to the IP address used and the area where it was carried out. The company will also let their users know if ever their Gmail accounts are logged in from another country. And, they will also have the chance of altering their log-in information using the same window once this threat happens to them.
Google Inc. is also working out on the idea of applying this brand new feature to their online productivity suite software.
Anti-stealing feature for online users
The new Google webmail feature functions in protecting users from the cyber criminals whose target is to steal information and take over e-mail accounts. And upon having the power to manipulate the accounts, they will then use these to send out loads of spam messages. This tactical web attack by crooks is also intended to include the accounts of the users’ friends and relatives.
Exact place cannot be determined
According to an entry posted in the Google security blog by Pavni Diwanji, the Google engineering director, the feature cannot exactly determine the area where the webmail account was last logged in. In addition to this information, it is quite alarming if an account is accessed in two different locations in just a matter of minutes or hours after a previous log-in.
It is true that the new feature can warn users about any malicious operation within their webmail accounts. However, the best countermeasure for security vulnerabilities is for the users to become very cautious in practicing personal protection of their accounts.
