“No ill intentions” says the Twitter hacker

It was speculated that a 23-year-old man illegally accessed the computer system of a well-known company and broadcasted the information that was stolen. He defended himself, however, by stating that he had no malicious objective when he broke into the system.
Flaws were evident in the Twitter’s security
According to an interview made by French media companies with Francois Cousteix or “Hacking Croll”, the infiltrator’s purpose for his action was to show the flaws in the security system of the company. He believed that there were glitches in the micro-blogging service’s data protection tool as it appears that he was able to steal about 300 pages of important information from the corporation. He wanted to caution the service that their system possesses imperfections with regards to safeguarding significant data.
Cybercrime has an equivalent punishment
The local government filed a case against Cousteix, the 23-year-old unemployed individual from central France, for gaining entry into the company’s computers system. And, if he was found to be guilty of the charge, then he would be imprisoned for about two years and he would also have to pay for a fine of €30,000.
Hacking Croll’s tactic was disclosed
Based on the assumptions of the government department, the man put up a front using the name “Hacking Croll” and he penetrated the data systems of Twitter during the spring season of 2009. And, upon gaining entry, Cousteix stole quite a number of the company’s private information and also their administration tools.
No harm was done against their users
The micro-blogging service assured that the private records of their online users were not included in the hacking incident. Also, the service was not affected when it was infiltrated by the said cybercriminal.
Infiltration led to leak of confidential data
But then, the company was badly influenced due to the occurrence of hacking in their system. The stolen confidential data were broadcasted via the press after their data systems were penetrated by this alleged hacker. This revealed the information regarding the micro-blogging service’s security, the records taken during meetings, and also Twitter’s plans on improving their service.
