Quit Facebook Day equals big fail

The scheduled departure of users on the “Quit Facebook Day” had become a total mess. This was concluded after seeing that just less than one percent of the sum of all the social network’s users took their leave from the website.
The number is just too little
According to the group concerned over the “Quit Facebook Day”, there were about 34,000 users who deactivated their accounts during the said event. However, this is just a small part of the 400 million members of this social networking service.
Difficulty in abandoning a habit
There are two known reasons why the users do not want to leave the social networking site. This is either they have found contentment in the security updates made by the company during the past few weeks or people just became too attached to this website.
However, the company is still expecting that the reason why their users chose not to leave their site is because of the updated privacy systems. Based on the statement made by the representative of Facebook, their company is still hoping that the people who planned in joining the said quitting event took time in studying their altered privacy controls.
It is true that many of the users were disappointed during the previous months because of the faults and glitches that occurred on the protection of the confidential information of their users.
Adjustments done were not totally useless
The modifications, which were done on the security settings in the month of December, gave users the chance to limit the number of people that can view the updates that they post on their wall. On the other hand, the earlier setting had been less difficult when users can simply build a block setting of their own.
The social networking site believed that they also messed up at some part when they modified the privacy control. And, they immediately did alterations on their security settings after receiving a bunch of objections from two different offices including the US Federal Trade Commission and the data protection agency in Europe.
Based on the study conducted by the Vision Critical on over 700 Facebook users in US, about 61 percent found that the company has been doing a satisfying job in providing a fully secured environment for them.
