The company immediately sent out words of warning upon detecting a very serious threat on some of their products. The affected merchandise includes the following: Acrobat software, Flash Player, and Adobe Reader.
Past and present editions are vulnerable
A security advisory was broadcasted by Adobe in order to inform the users of their products. Based on this advisory, Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 plus its previous versions, which are compatible with the operating systems such as Macintosh, Windows, Solaris, and Linus, were the ones compromised with the security threat.
Even the little parts are at risk
A component of the product is also influenced with this glitch and it was found out to be “authplay.dll”. This component is involved in both the Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x that works with different operating systems like the Windows, Unix, and Macintosh.
Criminals work fast when it comes to abusing threats
According to the company Adobe, the vicious online criminals are capable of moving in a very fast pace especially when there is an easy target that they can aim at. It was reported that these crooks already found their way into abusing the security flaws found on some of Adobe’s popular products.
There is always equivalent good news
Fortunately, Adobe saw the presence of this little light, which gave an assurance to their valued customers. The news involved their Flash Player version 10.1 Release Candidate, which was discovered to have been safe from any security dangers. There were additional products on Adobe’s list, which are also protected from the security threat and these are the Adobe Reader and the Acrobat 8.x
People can do necessary actions for initial protection
Users who have other versions of the product are advised to make necessary adjustments for an added protection. The company recommended that their customers should delete, rename, or remove access to the “authplay.dll” file in both Acrobat 9.x and Adobe Reader. These few things may help in resolving some of the problems that compromise the said versions of the merchandise.
Disadvantages are always present
But then, there is always a catch to every given benefits. As said by the company, there can be occurrences of software crashing when one attempts to view an SWF file.
The patch for the vulnerabilities is still not available but this will be released immediately the instant it is on hand.
