New security test tool for safer online surfing

Jericho Forum, a renowned IT security group, published yet another creation, which may support various firms and vendors in guaranteeing their users valuable security products. This latest device is called the Self-Assessment Scheme or SAS.
The free tool can already be accessed through the Jericho Forum and this may be use to evaluate the computer system considering the Jericho Forum Commandments, which states the 11 rules of good security design.
Various kinds of questions are found in this tool and this will be helpful for users in such a way that it guides them in checking the systems and it also allows them to determine if their system meets the desired requirement or not.
Online commandments should be utilized
According to Paul Simmonds, a member of the board of the Jericho Forum, quite a number of IT architects and designers in the internet industry considers the 11 Jericho Forum Commandments as a standard for evaluating their security devices. These commandments are also used in appraising the security solutions of the different IT experts. In addition to this, many end-user organizations incorporate the 11 commandments in their own RFPs.
Moreover, the Self Assessment Scheme shares the many advantages, which may be acquired from making use of this tool, to the security vendors and customer organizations. This also creates a protected ground for selling products in the safest manner possible. The members of the IT industry are all encouraged to present products that are highly-regarded in terms of the protection these items offer.
Security is necessary for the growing industry
Philippe Courtot, another board member of the Jericho Forum and also a chief executive of Qualys, stated that it is required from the security vendors to grant their consumers very effective products now that more applications are being spread in the online community.
And upon undergoing a thorough process of evaluating the security products, the producers of these items may put a symbol on the package that will serve as a proof that the SAS made by Jericho is used in appraising it.
The manufacturers of the products should declare, in all truthfulness, to their customers that they have used the Jericho Forum’s SAS in assessing their products. Also, they must also be fully aware of the consequence of tainting their name if ever they proclaim things that are not true.
