PSI was able to identify that 90 percent of the users are compelled to update their system at a range of 51 to 86 times in order to remedy the 342 gaps in its security during the past year. Also, these noted software security flaws were identified to be from the 36 dealers of programs. In conclusion of the study, Secunia was able to state that the result on the total number of updates and its occurrence within a week was greater compared to what the users will usually agree to spend upon.
Solution provided by Windows
According to Secunia, a recommended standard solution is now distinguished among the many features of the new operating system, Windows 7. The key towards the users’ persistent problem is this particular software, which can observe and coordinate the installation of updates for each of the programs of the various producers. There are update managers, which suggests the outdated versions of programs and the corresponding links for the manual downloads and installation of the updates; however, consumers will most likely prefer to have a program that can automatically patch the different software all at the same time.
Through Secunia’s study, an upgrade is to be incorporated on the new version of the Personal Software Inspector in order to ease the users’ burden with regards to the plentiful system updates. This attribute was already added by this popular producer on Corporate Software Inspector (CSI), which is actually a corporate product.
